A lot of local and long-distance friends and relatives have let us know that they'd like to visit us after the babies are born in order to help us out. We will definitely need lots of extra hands! But we want to keep the schedule manageable so that we don't have to juggle a lot of phone calls and emails to set up visits. So at some point soon we will be emailing everyone a link to a Google calendar, on which people can sign up for short- and long-term visits. Parents and siblings get first dibs, of course, but we will need help well into the summer so there will be no shortage of available dates.
Because our house is fairly small, it may be best that visitors stay in a nearby hotel at least part of the time so we're not tripping all over each other. (we can provide recommendations - there are 3 hotels within in a mile of our house)
Also, the doctors feel that it would be best if all caretakers get both the seasonal and H1N1 flu shots. I got both shots in the first trimester so the babies will have some immunity from that, but you can never be too careful with premature babies.
Finally, the types of help we'll need range from household things (laundry, cooking, cleaning), to dog walking, to baby soothing, to errands. All types of help are welcome! I should also say that there is no obligation to visit - if we email you the calendar but you just can't make it out here, we totally understand - we just want the people who are able to visit to have an easy way to coordinate dates.
Thanks for everyone's support - it's been so wonderful already to have so many people share in our excitement! We are looking forward to meeting the babies in just a few weeks! (eek!)
