Singing and Dancing
Lately the kids have really loved singing and dancing. They carry their Wee Sing songbooks around and sing from them, and even sit at the piano and act like they are reading music while playing. They also demand that we sing to them, and say "no" if they don't like the song we choose, and clap and say "yay" at the end of each song. They also seem to know which songs are one which pages, I guess by identifying the pictures that go with the songs.
Here they are doing their own concert with the books.
They also love the Ring Around the Rosie song. I don't know where they learned it - I haven't been teaching it to them, but maybe my parents or the nanny have. Please ignore my singing voice in this one...
(if we had known we were going to have triplets we would have gotten a king size bed instead of a queen!)

Music Lessons
On Friday my mom came over to help out for a couple of hours since Jason had been out of town since Thursday and there was no napping on Friday. I got to see her have some music time with the kids. Apparently they like to go through the whole Wee Sing songbook at once, with clapping and cheering after each song. It was pretty cute! (please excuse the pacis in their mouths - it was a desperate afternoon)

Silly
The trio is so goofy and fun now! Here are some examples:
Just a little man in a hat with pom poms...

wearing pants with pockets...

taking a stroll around the house...

Climbing on dad before bed

Sometimes they like to take a break in their cribs with their pacis and books. They read with great passion. :)
They are getting more independent in the bath tub...and invading each others' personal space...

Introducing Nanny Hannah
Jason and I realized that we haven't done a nanny update in forever. First we had Mali, who was with us Aug '10-May '11, when she had to return to med school. Then we had Gina just for the summer of '11, and then her fall class schedule was too complicated to be able to continue working. We decided that when searching for our next nanny, it needed to be someone who really wanted to do childcare for a living, not just part-time while also being a student. We were lucky to find Hannah, who is young but has had a lot of caregiving jobs. She came to us when the kids were at the height of separation/stranger anxiety, so morning departures were rough for awhile. But now the kids are past that and they seem to look forward to Hannah coming over - it was really cute when they started saying her name. She does lots of fun things with them, and she is great at keeping the kitchen and play areas clean.
We only have a few pictures of her so far.

This pic was taken back when there was still a lot of separation anxiety going on. They'd even melt down when we arrived home in the evenings. So they weren't thrilled about sitting with Hannah at this particular moment.

She takes pictures of them when she has a free hand. This pic is from way back in October.

These are more recent

I have no idea how she got them all sitting together and smiling!

And here's a video she took of the girls showing off their knowledge of body parts.
We're glad to have you, Nanny Hannah!

Conversations
People often ask us if the triplets have their own language. We usually say that we have no idea - I mean, they're babbling a lot and saying a lot of real words. How are we supposed to know if their babble means anything to them?? I think these videos suggest that they are communicating with each other somehow.

Assorted videos
Just for fun, I randomly selected a few videos without screening them first. Let's see what kind of antics we captured...
Dad chose this music
The girls playing with their new cat-shaped musical piano (thanks MRS - we haven't sent a thank you note yet, but the babies love the piano!)

Dinner at the zoo - 15 months old
The babies just keep getting messier when eating, which is hard to believe. Sometimes they like to try to eat with spoons. It's pretty funny to watch.

Who needs a spoon?

I want YOU to give me more yogurt!

Hair courtesy of avocado.

Get this bib off of me! The Tommee Tippee bibs are the only ones I've found that he can't rip off.

No paparazzi!

There was a spilled pea incident (thankfully not a spilled pee incident). Lucas focused on organizing the peas into different containers, and Zoey ate them off the floor. Abby was done with the peas and just read a book nearby.

Videos
Sorry for the gap between posts. I actually went out of town last weekend for a fun time with some girlfriends, and Jason stayed home with the babies and took care of them for 48 hours straight. I'm so glad I got to get away and am grateful to Jason for helping to make it happen.
Here are some videos of what's been happening lately. Zoey has been walking steadily for the last couple of months, and she has finally learned to walk while pushing her popper.
The babies love playing in their room and walking amongst the "secret passageways" between the cribs.
Will post more updates soon...we are hoping to finish decorating the nursery this weekend so we can upload pictures. :)

Birthday Eve
One year ago today, I looked like this:

I don't remember anymore how it felt physically to be that pregnant, but I sure do remember all the emotions associated with birthday eve!
We are looking forward to a fun weekend of first birthday celebrations. Grandma Di and Uncle Dane will be here, along with GrandMary and Grandpa Gene, to help us have a little party for the babies. We're also going to have some professional photos taken, which I am very excited about. I will do my best to keep up with the blog over the weekend!
For now, enjoy these pictures and videos from the past few days...
Lucas is so handsome in his preppy outfit I just can't stand it.

Pre-bedtime pile of babies

They remind us of Dr. Seuss characters in these pajamas.

More hysterical giggles from Lucas. We love that this is what he does when he gets overtired (versus the shrieking that the girls do).

Sick and tired
What do you get when you cross two sick parents + long days at work + active babies? Exhaustion, and too many days between blog posts! Here are some highlights from this weekend...
Zombie Zoey (she loves getting as close to the camera as possible)

The orange slide is a favorite toy - it dates back to my babyhood!

They all insist on sitting up while drinking from their bottles now. No more reclining on boppies - much too babyish. It won't be long before we give up the bottles completely!

Daddy-daughter time

close-up

Abby now thinks that the proper response to any camera is to throw her head back and stick out her tongue.

toothy grin

Abby saying "mama"
Zoey standing
This is a long one, but worth it if you like hearing Lucas laugh. Apparently giant cardboard boxes are hilarious.
