Grandmas' Christmas visit

The week after Christmas we had a nice visit from Grandmas Di & Peg. There was a lot of gift-opening, cooking, eating, and playing. We all had a great time together!

Lots of gifts!

The babies especially like their new riding toys. They dance to the music that the lion makes and enjoy being pushed around the house.

Hang on, Lucas! (he doesn't actually know how to walk behind it yet)

two great words

Yep, our house is under contract, after being on the market for less than a month! We are pretty excited, especially because the buyer is totally flexible about the timing. This means that we don't have to feel pressured to find a house for ourselves right this second - if it takes a month or two that's ok with the buyer.

We are also excited because we don't have to deal with the hassle of cleaning up the house and getting the babies and the dog out every time there's a showing or an open house. Of course, I really loved how clean and clutter-free the house was, so I'm going to try to keep it up as best I can.

Stay tuned for news about our own house hunt!

9 Month Stats

The babies had their 9 month pediatrician visit today. How did they get to be 9 months old already??? And more importantly, how is it less than 3 months till their first birthday???

Everyone is relatively healthy. Poor Abby has another bad diaper rash, Lucas has been congested since after Thanksgiving, and Zoey has a goopy eye. But otherwise they're doing great.

Abigail:
3/25/10 Birth - 5 pounds 3 ounces; 18.5" long; 13" head circumference
2 weeks old - 5 pounds 4 ounces
4/29/10 One month old - 6 pounds 13 ounces; 18.5" long; 13.5" head circumference
6/3/10 Two months old - 9 pounds 8 ounces; 21.5" long; 14.5 head circumference
8/12/10 Four months old - 12 pounds 6 ounces; 24" long; 15.75" head circumference
10/4/10 Six months old - 13 pounds 12 ounces; 25" tall; 16.25" head circumference
12/28/10 Nine months old - 15 pounds 12 ounces; 27" tall; 17.25" head circumference

Abby's weight is in the 5-10th percentile, while her height is still in the 50th. Guess she's just going to be long and lean.

Look who figured out how to crawl under the orange slide!

She got motivated when we put Zoey on the other side of it. :)

Lucas
3/25/10 Birth - 4 pounds 12 ounces; 18.25" long; 12.5" head circumference
2 weeks old - 5 pounds even
4/29/10 One month old - 6 pounds 14 ounces; 19.5" long; 13.5" head circumference
6/3/10 Two months old - 10 pounds even; 20.75" long; 15" head circumference
8/12/10 Four months old - 14 pounds 6 ounces; 24.5" long; 16.75" head circumference
10/4/10 Six months old - 16 pounds 11 ounces; 26.25" tall; 17.25" head circumference
12/28/10 Nine months old - 19 pounds even; 28.25" tall; 18" head circumference

Lucas remains at the 25th percentile for weight and 50th for height. I had guessed Lucas's weight to be 20 pounds, so I wasn't too far off. Since he is only 3/4 in. shorter than the maximum height for the infant carseat, I got his new convertible carseat installed today. I put him in it to adjust the straps, and he immediately smiled and did his "heh heh heh" laugh, as if he knew that he was going to be so much more comfortable from now on. I can't believe how he looks like such a big boy in it!

Zoey
3/25/10 Birth - 3 pounds 15 ounces; 16" long; 11.75" head circumference
2 weeks old - 4 pounds 2 ounces
4/29/10 One month old - 5 pounds 9 ounces; 17.75" long; 13.25" head circumference
6/3/10 Two months old - 7 pounds 13 ounces; 20" long; 14.25" head circumference
8/12/10 Four months old - 10 pounds 12 ounces; 22.25" long; 15.75" head circumference
10/4/10 Six months old - 12 pounds 10 ounces; 24.50" tall; 16.25" head circumference
12/28/10 Nine months old - 14 pounds 11 ounces; 27.50" tall; 17.25" head circumference

Zoey is still barely at the 5th percentile for weight, but she is making steady progress on her own curve. Her height is at the 50th percentile (although I think the nurse really stretched her - it's hard for me to believe that she is half an inch taller than Abby).

Zoey is starting to try to pull up to standing herself. She got motivated when Jason put a block at the top of the stairs to the orange slide.

Grandmas Di and Peg are here this week, so stay tuned for pictures of our Christmas celebration with them.

Christmas Eve

Sorry for the non-chronological post topic, but I'm just now getting around to posting pics from Christmas Eve. Jason and I spent most of the day at home, but took a little outing to drive past a house for sale and to take the babies for a walk. The babies enjoyed wearing all of their casual holiday gear...

We've found a new way to (briefly) contain Lucas

"oh, are we supposed to stay in one place for pictures? Good luck with that!"

"Get out of my way, Lucas - that's my toy cabinet!"

Babies' First Christmas

We had two big things to celebrate this year - the babies' first Christmas, and their 9 month birthday. It was a fun but tiring day!

The babies got up at their usual 6:00-6:30 time and had their breakfast. Then we headed to the tree to see what Santa had left for them.

Learning to unwrap presents

Books!

First soccer balls

Teamwork

Sing-a-ma-jigs

After the babies went down for their naps, Jason and I enjoyed some homemade monkey bread and strong coffee. You know it's going to be a long day when you're exhausted by 9am.

So gorgeous...I can't stand it!

After the babies got up from their naps, we had a quick Skype session with Grandma Di, Grandma Peg, and Uncle Dane. Then we packed up the trio and headed to GrandMary & Grandpa Gene's house. Uncle Peter was there too.

It was fun to watch the babies open presents

Everyone was so excited!

Feeding time...yum, sweet potatoes

It's too much of a pain to transport and set up high chairs...

...So the babies got personal feeding assistants instead

Playing with some new toys

After the present-opening, the grown-ups tried to eat their yummy ham dinner. However, the babies refused to nap so there was a lot of getting up and down and eating one-handed. Eventually we just had to pack them up and get them in the car so they'd fall asleep. We took the long way home and got them to sleep for 30 min. The rest of the afternoon was a bit of a blur...the babies continued to play with their new toys, ate their dinner, and went to bed by 6:30. Jason and I had cereal for dinner and collapsed on the couch. Whew!

We are thankful for all of the wonderful gifts that the babies received and grateful for all of the loving family and friends in their lives. Merry Christmas, everyone!

Monkeys with bananas

The babies are getting so much better at feeding themselves and are having fun with messy finger foods. We're still feeding them pureed food but are gradually adding in more and more foods that they can feed themselves. It's an exciting new stage!

(bet you thought this would be a Christmas Eve post. Sorry - we decided to save all Christmas photos for tomorrow. After all, Santa hasn't even been here yet.)

She crawls!

Well, Abby finally did it. After months of getting to her hands and knees and rocking back and forth, scooching backwards, and watching Lucas crawl, she finally started crawling. Unlike Lucas, she skipped the "army crawl" stage and went straight to crawling on all fours. She is having fun with her new skill!

Random cuteness

I love this picture of Grandpa Gene holding the trio.

Abby thinks socks are for eating.

Technically, Lucas is the younger brother to Abby. But he sure isn't little!

Her outfit says "tough guys need sleep too" [it was too small for Lucas]

Didn't I just clean the kitchen?? The clean-up never ends...
