Dinner at the zoo - 15 months old

The babies just keep getting messier when eating, which is hard to believe. Sometimes they like to try to eat with spoons. It's pretty funny to watch.

Who needs a spoon?

I want YOU to give me more yogurt!

Get this bib off of me! The Tommee Tippee bibs are the only ones I've found that he can't rip off.

No paparazzi!

There was a spilled pea incident (thankfully not a spilled pee incident). Lucas focused on organizing the peas into different containers, and Zoey ate them off the floor. Abby was done with the peas and just read a book nearby.

Tiny Dancers

The babies have been having fun dancing to lots of different music lately. It's so funny to see them move - they each have their own style!

Home decor update

Our friends Grace and Benson told us about a great clear plastic banister guard. We got it from amazon - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003TXW576

So much more attractive!

All we had to do to install it was punch holes and use zip ties to secure it to the railing

From certain angles you have a cool "underwater aquarium" view. Plus the babies love to smush their faces up against it, which is pretty funny.

Mobility

The babies are so active these days! They are climbing on things, wrestling, riding on their toys, and dancing. Lucas has taken some steps on his own and is gaining more confidence every day. Abby is still "walking" on her knees. Poor girl has permanent bruises...

Lucas and Zoey really enjoy wrestling/cuddling with each other.

Lucas loves pushing the girls in the fire truck. I'll post videos when I can.

This is the beginning of the end of our perfectly painted walls, right?

Climbing onto the changing table. At least she can only get to the lowest shelf right now.

I wanted to upload videos tonight but it wouldn't work. I'll try again soon!

Videos

Sorry for the gap between posts. I actually went out of town last weekend for a fun time with some girlfriends, and Jason stayed home with the babies and took care of them for 48 hours straight. I'm so glad I got to get away and am grateful to Jason for helping to make it happen.

Here are some videos of what's been happening lately. Zoey has been walking steadily for the last couple of months, and she has finally learned to walk while pushing her popper.

The babies love playing in their room and walking amongst the "secret passageways" between the cribs.

Will post more updates soon...we are hoping to finish decorating the nursery this weekend so we can upload pictures. :)

Home decor: Dining room

This week's room is the dining area. We haven't done much to it besides give it the same paint that the rest of the living room got. We'll probably get around to hanging pictures sometime next year...

View from living room. The dining room also serves as a parking place for the babies' riding toys and a place for their toy kitchen.

View from kitchen. Notice the 2 folding chairs - we have to sit on folding chairs because the sturdy chairs that go with the table are being used by the babies' space saver high chairs. We'd like to find some inexpensive yet sturdy chairs to put their high chairs on so we can have the real chairs back to sit on in the dining room. Of course, we'd eventually like to get a more modern dining room table - maybe something rectangular in a darker brown.

The stained glass light fixture. Notice the dragonflies? We'd like to replace it with something a bit more modern at some point - maybe something from IKEA.

So that's it! Not too exciting, but it's great to have a place to eat outside of the kitchen, since the kitchen is taken up completely by high chairs (more on that next time).

Sunday Brunch

We had a nice Sunday morning playdate with two families and their kids. Our new house is great for playdates because there is lots of room and we have lots of toys. The grown-ups even got to eat and drink a little. I think we're going to institute Mimosa Sundays from now on. :)

Clyde enjoyed our riding toys

Zoey and crew can get on and off of the toys on their own but their feet still can't completely reach the floor

Zoey kept trying to steal baby May's pacifier

Abby enjoyed looking at the new baby too

Hope we get to do it again soon!

Home alone

I've been talking with friends lately about what it's like to be home with the babies two days a week. I described it as "tiring, but no longer terrifying". A year ago, I was lining up help on a daily basis whenever my mom wasn't available, because it was way too hard to take care of all 3 by myself. Now it is totally do-able. The babies are more "self-sufficient" - they can hold their own bottles, eat finger foods, crawl/walk around the house, and entertain themselves. They also take naps at fairly predictable times. All of this adds up to reasonably peaceful days, and as long as I don't have any unrealistic expectations for getting things done around the house, I don't get too stressed. Here's an idea of what we do during the day:

Playing in their bedroom

Nothing better than lounging on a giant animal pillow or two

Love this face

We went on a lovely walk - it was still only 60 degrees at 11am! I am going to start trying to take them on walks at least 3 days a week - pushing 100 pounds of babies plus stroller up and down hills is sure to help me get in shape.

There was a tea party after lunch

Lucas likes sitting under things

Zoey helped cook our meals

They helped unload the dishwasher...

...and then reload it

Guess I ran out of steam for taking pictures by this point in the day. Even though it's not as hard to be home alone with them all day, I still count the minutes till Jason arrives home from work!

More fun with friends

We had one final playdate on Memorial Day to round out the holiday weekend. It didn't last too long since we were all tired from our other playdates, but it was fun to have Henry, Audrey, and Andrew over to our new house. Hopefully we can do it again soon!

The couch cushions were lots of fun.

Henry and Abby. Love the way the sun shines through this window in the late afternoon.

And a bonus fun picture...

Sometimes the only thing that will make Zoey happy is riding on Jason's shoulders, even if it means he has to eat breakfast this way.

A serious note

I usually try to keep our blog lighthearted, but I needed to share this triplet family's story and remind everyone to hug your babies tight.
