Jason's aunt Crystal is a talented artist. She painted this trio of monkey pictures for our nursery. We finally had the chance to hang them up, and we are so happy with how they make the nursery look complete! Thanks Crystal!

More household prep

I think we've finally got everything put together and installed! Here are pictures of our car seats, our former dining room turned baby swing/bouncer room, our rearranged living room and kitchen, and the cribs with the mobile and soothers attached. Those of you who know what our house used to look like will be able to tell all the changes we've made!

 

 

 

 

 

p.s. the aluminum foil you see on everything is an attempt to keep the cat out of places where he doesn't belong. So far it's working, but we'll have to see what happens when we remove the foil and replace it with babies!

Nursery is 90% done!

Jason has been working hard on the nursery, under my supervision of course. :) We have all the essential elements now, and just need to find some wall art and get a receptacle for the diapers. He put together the other 2 cribs, and today he put sheets on the mattresses. I love all the crib sheets we got. (the white things in the cribs are little lamb loveys that someone gave us as a gift) The way the cribs are arranged feels a little bit like a day care center, but let's face it - that's basically what we'll have in our own home! (p.s. thanks to my mom and dad for helping us out with the purchase of the cribs!)





The changing table is stuffed full of diapers, wipes, burp cloths, and who knows what else. We are well-stocked!

Nursery is 50% done

We* are making progress on the nursery! My mom was a huge help in organizing clothes in the dresser and blankets/sheets/burp cloths in the changing table and closet. She also painted the knobs for the dresser - aren't they cute?? (if you click on the picture it will get larger) The dresser used to be painted white and was my mom's childhood dresser, and then mine. Jason's dad spent a lot of time stripping the paint and refinishing it. It's so beautiful now!



We just ordered and received some cute pink and green storage bins to use in the changing table and around the house. I'll post those pictures once we get them set up. Aren't the flower lights (from IKEA) cute?? And the glider is so comfy (thanks Diane & Peg!). And thanks to our friends Audrey and Andrew for giving us their extra changing table. :)



We have one crib set up so far. We still have an air mattress in there for guests who are coming through town in the next few weeks. Eventually we'll get all 3 cribs set up, but we're going to try having the babies sleep in our room in a co-sleeper first anyway, and we've heard that multiples like to share a crib for the first few months (after all, they're used to being pretty close to each other!). The IKEA Gulliver cribs are so streamlined and simple, and we should be able to fit all 3 in the room.



So all that's left is some more organization, and finding some cute prints for the walls. I never thought we'd be able to fit everything in there, but I think it's going to work!

*In this case, "we" means that other people have done all the work while I have supervised. :)

I think we have enough clothes...

My mom has been doing baby laundry nonstop since she arrived. We have been given tons of baby clothes from friends, acquaintances, and even near-strangers - they are all really happy to be cleaning out their closets and helping out a "high need" family. We also received some adorable clothes, blankets, and sheets as shower gifts. We are thrilled that we will probably not have to buy any clothes for the first year, but a bit overwhelmed about where we are going to store everything. The above picture shows all the clothes that have been washed so far - and these are only the preemie, newborn, and 0-3 sizes. We have many boxes in the attic of larger sizes. Our dresser is looking smaller and smaller!

This weekend we are going to attempt to organize everything and get it in drawers, and I will hopefully be able to post an "after" picture in a few days. Thank goodness we have a back-up dresser in our guest room for the overflow!

p.s. my ribs have been feeling a bit better in the last 24 hours or so. I think I was too active on Tues & Wed (dr. appt., folding baby laundry, etc.) so I've been forcing myself to lay more still. I think it's helping.
