I can't believe it's been a whole week since they've been born! The babies are doing great, and so are we. They have had 2 visits to the pediatrician so far, just to track their weights and make sure they weren't developing jaundice. Lucas had his bilirubin tested again just to be sure, but they are all out of the woods as far as jaundice is concerned.
The babies are also gaining weight. They lost some weight after birth, as all babies do. Their current weights are:
Abigail: 4 lbs 10oz (only 2oz away from his birth weight!)
Lucas: 4 lbs 13oz
Zoey: 3 lbs 11.5 oz
Since Zoey has gained the least weight and is the tiniest, we are going to start feeding her more frequently than the others. Her tummy is so tiny that she can't take in too much at once, so it's better to increase the frequency.
Jason and I are slowly figuring out the best way to handle nighttimes. The last couple of nights it seems to have worked for each of us to take 3 hour shifts, with the rights to wake the other person if all 3 babies are going nuts at once. Jason and I are each managing 4-5 hours of sleep at night - not consecutively, of course! But we're doing ok. And having my mom here during the days really helps us to be able to do things like take showers, get online, and maybe even take a nap.
And finally, here are some pictures of our first attempts at tummy time. Mostly they fell asleep, but hopefully they'll enjoy it more as they get more alert. We hope to be able to capture pictures of them with their eyes open someday!

Wow! Abigail has some hair!!!
ReplyDeleteI love Abigail's hair! How do you do nighttime feedings with 3? Are you doing bottles? I am fascinated by this! I think just having one is hard! You are a rock star!!
