Nap boycotts

We have had afternoon nap boycotts the past 3 days. Two of them were probably our fault since we took the babies out in the middle of the day and disrupted their routine. But they really had no excuse not to nap today. I'm really really hoping that this isn't the beginning of going to one nap per day. I'm not ready for that!

So now Lucas isn't the only one who likes to pull up to spy on Zoey in her crib. This is what I found when the girls were supposed to be napping today.

Abby and Zoey seemed to enjoy "talking" to each other instead of napping.

I moved Abby to the portable crib in the guest room (also known as the "holding area"). Still no nap. This is what I found when I walked in. She is so proud of herself for being able to get into a sitting position so easily.

Lucas decided to try going topless during yesterday's nap boycott.

Lazy Saturday

For the first time in awhile, we have absolutely nothing scheduled this weekend. We had a nice lazy day, mostly at home. Jason and I split up the babies in the morning - I took Abby to Babies R Us, and he took Zoey and Lucas to our outdoor pedestrian mall for a walk. I always love people's reactions when I have just one baby with me and they ask if she is my only child - I always answer "she's one of a set of three" and they are so surprised. tee hee.

Abby loves all jewelry, even dog tags.

Lucas holding his bottle and wearing his Detoit Tigers sweatsuit. Have we mentioned that he has 1.5 teeth right now?

Multi-tasking Zoey - standing, chewing on a teether, and watching a little TV. We can see a little tooth about to poke through!

He stands!

These babies are developing new skills every day - it's hard to keep up, let alone stay one step ahead! The last couple of days Lucas has been working on pulling up to standing. He is strong enough to pull up, but often gets stuck and isn't sure how to get back down without falling.

Funny story: today Lucas was standing up in his crib as I was trying to get everyone down for a nap. He reached into Zoey's crib and pulled her sock off her foot. He is a troublemaker!

Zoey is able to stand for long periods of time and even hold on with just one hand, but she's still not pulling up by herself.

Abby prefers to remain seated, thankyouverymuch.

Snow Day

We got our first snowfall of the season today. 3-5" was predicted, and I'd say we got toward the lower end of that range. Still, being that we're in the south, all the local schools were closed. I decided that nothing I had scheduled at work was critical, so I canceled my meetings and stayed home. I didn't want to miss the babies' first snow!

Our snow family during last year's first big snow. (see the 3 baby snow people?)

Mojo had the right idea about the best way to spend the snow day.

Thanks to Grandmas Di and Peg, the babies received snowsuits in the mail yesterday - just in time!

Lucas was not thrilled to wear his snowsuit indoors. He looked like a miniature sumo wrestler.

Zoey was not thrilled either.

Abby was the only one who didn't mind wearing a snowsuit indoors.

The snowsuit council met to discuss optimum snowsuit styles.

They weren't cranky at all when they were outside - they were very curious.

Poor Lucas. His snowsuit is so big and bulky that he kept falling over.

It's hard for me to take a picture of myself with the babies while trying not to fall over in the snow

She rolls!

12/16 - here are some pics of Zoey rolling:

12/15: No picture/video of it yet, but we had to tell the blog world that Zoey has finally decided that rolling from back to tummy is a worthwhile pursuit. For weeks she has only done it under extreme duress (by us putting toys out of her reach) and has flipped to her back as soon as possible. But in the past few days she has started rolling on her own terms, going from back to tummy to back, and having fun kicking her siblings and stealing toys in the process.

p.s. check out the new polls I added on the left side of the blog page. :)

p.p.s. omigosh, I made the poll closure date their birthday, and it's telling me that there are only 99 days left until March 25. eek! how is that possible??

p.p.p.s. how do you like the new blog layout? Can you tell I'm postponing doing other important tasks by playing with the blog formatting?

The zoo

Seeing triple. It's like Goldilocks at our house. These are size 12 month pajamas - they fit Lucas perfectly, are just about right on Abby, and are too big on Zoey.

I went in the nursery to investigate why Abby wasn't napping, and this is what I found. She was perfectly happy just dangling her legs through the rails.

So I put Zoey in the crib with her to see what she'd do.

Let us out of here!
