Funny things they say

The kids have been saying so many funny things lately that we thought we needed to document them. Here are some examples:

Abby:
"it's too tight!" (in reference to any object that she is having trouble opening)
"Yeah ok" (whenever we ask her if she wants something)
"it's funny"(she has a great sense of humor - Anytime Abby sees a character in a book wearing sunglasses, she laughs and says "it's funny". She especially laughs at pigs wearing sunglasses.)
"it's guys" (in reference to the "pizza guy", construction workers, basically any men out in public)
"my turn is next" (that one should be obvious - she is always having to wait for her turn)
"too sunny!" or "too bright!" (when in the car and the sun is shining in) - often followed by "eye! eye!" and rubbing her eyes
"it's a big one" (in reference to how full her diaper is)

First real braids!

Stroller brigade

Lately they have been emptying their dresser drawers and rolling around in their clothes. Drives me nuts.

Lucas, who is obsessed with selecting DVDs, opening each case to make sure the disc is there, and deciding which show to watch. He knows which button to push on the remote to get it to play.
"pick show"
"push buttons"
and the most recent one - "myself", as in "I do it myself"
"oh geez, need to clean up!" (after purposely spilling something)
He is obsessed with phones, both real and pretend. He often pretends to call Grandma Di and actually did call her once from Jason's phone. One time when he grabbed my phone he managed to change the background screen to be a picture of Jason, and I couldn't figure out how to change it back.

Zoey
"eat milk and cheerios!" (the girl loves her food)
She doesn't have a whole lot of signature phrases, but she says very long sentences pretty consistently and is very observant of the world around her.
Yes, that is a band-aid on her nose. She thought it was funny.

They can sing parts of the ABC song and count to 10, sometimes 15. They are also learning words to songs, like "Twinkle Twinkle" and "Itsy Bitsy Spider". It's so cute to see them really try to sing along, especially when they are "reading" the words in their books as they sing.

They repeat everything we say (including phrases like "oh crap", and worse) and learn new words every day.

Our cat is named Mojo Pepe. They have named all of their stuffed animals, and any new real animal that they meet, "Pepe". The conversation goes like this:
"what is your fox's name?"
"pepe"
"what is your bear's name?"
"pepe"
"what is your bird's name?'
"pepe"
and so on...

Their relationship with each other is so special. One morning Zoey was already up, and when Lucas got up, he ran into the dining room to find her. He said hi and put his head on her lap, and she leaned down to kiss his head. They are always so happy to see each other in the morning.

On the flip side, they also fight and wrestle like crazy. After time outs we always make them apologize and give hugs. Almost every time, the "victim" says "sorry" first, especially if it's Abby. And when we encourage them to say "thank you" after someone has done something nice for them, usually the person who did the nice thing says "thank you" first. For example, if we tell Zoey to say thank you to Abby ("say thank you, Zoey"), Abby will say "thank you Zoey".

They are also so affectionate with us. One night I was lying on the floor and complaining that my back hurt, and Abby came over and said "I kiss it". Then they all wanted to kiss it, and then I ended up getting a "massage" with all of them climbing all over my back.

Their latest kind of gross thing is having to "check their toes". They look carefully between each toe and comment on whether they are dirty, and sometimes clean out any dirt/lint they might find. Then they have to check our toes too. Usually they pronounce them "okay" after inspection.

Backyard water fun.
We will probably keep adding to this post as we notice more funny things they say, so check back soon!
