New entry for the Guiness World Records

Although I'd like to be the kind of mom who doesn't talk incessantly about her babies' poop, I just have to share a story from today. Zoey has a reputation for having diaper changes that involve several diapers, as having a fresh diaper put on seems to inspire her to produce more poop. Well today, Zoey set a new world record - 6 diapers, one right after the other. As soon as my mom got a clean diaper on, Zoey filled it. And screamed while she was doing it. And I was holding Lucas in the same room, and he screamed in sympathy (while nursing). All my mom and I could do was laugh hysterically while the babies screamed and the diapers kept filling up. At least Zoey is helping to use up the preemie diapers!

Raise your hand if you're hungry!

I don't fully understand all the habits of babies. Do all babies like to sleep with their arms raised? Do ours all lift their left arms because they're siblings, or is it just coincidence? Our trio have learned to wriggle their arms out of their swaddles, and they all seem to like to sleep with their left arms in the air. Then their hands get cold and we have to wrestle them back into the swaddles. Silly babies.

A visit from Uncle Peter and Grandpa Gene

Lisa's dad and brother came to visit on Mother's Day weekend. Peter quickly learned how to change diapers and give bottles, and was quite good at calming fussy babies. Grandpa Gene already knew the ropes and loved holding babies all day. We hope they are able to visit often!

My first Mother's Day

I've had a very nice weekend with my parents and brother here. Jason cooked a wonderful meal for us yesterday. Then I got some very sweet presents, including a Mom mug and a photo album of the babies' first month. I also got a yummy edible arrangement of chocolate covered fruit. What a difference a year makes!

Our First Playdate!

Our friends Jen and Andy have a baby boy named Clyde who is about 6 weeks older than the trio. Today we went to their house for lunch, and he and Abby enjoyed spending time next to each other.

The little ladies snuggling in the Moby wrap. Their head control is better now so they're not knocking heads as much. Abby did suck on Zoey's head some though. :)

Lucas was very alert this morning and loved his playmat time. Abby just wanted to nap. We discovered that the playmat fits in the pack n' play, which helps to keep the babies away from the dog while they're playing.

It's a zoo...

Yesterday's breakfast cuddle picture

Lucas looking handsome, and not fussing! He seems to be feeling better these days.

People keep asking how the pets are adjusting. The answer is: better than expected! Casey is still learning that she should only lick the babies on the back of the head, but otherwise she's pretty gentle around them. She is suffering primarily from lack of exercise. She does get a walk almost every day (thanks mom!) but would love more attention.

Mojo likes to claim every place that we put babies for himself. Here he is trying out a car seat. He also enjoys coming into the bedroom at breakfast time for a little cuddle with me and the babies. He is tolerating things pretty well.

First tub bath!

Thus far we have just been doing sponge baths with the babies - I think we were afraid they'd be too small and slippery for the baby tub. But today I decided that they were ready, primarily because they were kind of gross! Zoey especially always smells like sour milk b/c she's a messy eater. Plus they've entered that lovely newborn stage of losing hair, peeling skin, and acne. Good thing they're so cute despite those things! So it was into the tub for all of them. They all actually liked it - they seemed to enjoy the warm water and only cried when they were taken out of the tub. Whew!

And the clothing theme for the day is...ruffles! (sorry Lucas, no ruffles for you)

I don't know why I love taking pictures of them piled on our bed before their breakfast, but I do!
